The Sameness of the Screen

Cyanotypes
19 x 13 in (48 x 33 cm)
Early Apple computers came preloaded with 38 simple desktop patterns — from uniform shades of grey to slightly more ornate tiled compositions — allowing users to customize their digital environment for the first time. In this project, close up photographs made directly from the computer screen of my childhood computer are blown up and printed as cyanotypes. This gesture is meant to point to the optimism and naïveté of the dawn of personal computing.
